NSSP Mission & Principles

NSSP Scouts

PRESENCE + PERCEPTION = PREVENTION

In challenging times for towns and cities, neighborhoods take responsibility to expand the Presence of Police and City Resources through volunteer “Neighborhood Scout and Safety Patrol.”

Mission: Neighborhood Health through Active Volunteer Vigilance.

Motto:     Have Fun Outdoors with Vigilant Eyes.

Slogan:   Active Hearts, Hands and Heads = Health

Power of Perception

Kennesaw, Georgia: “In 1982 the city passed an ordinance [Sec 34-21][13] (a) In order to provide for the emergency management of the city, and further in order to provide for and protect the safety, security and general welfare of the city and its inhabitants, every head of household residing in the city limits is required to maintain a firearm, together with ammunition therefore.”

Crime dropped dramatically in 6 months, 30 years later it continues lower than similiar Atlanta suburbs . . . despite no increase in gun ownership: same now as in 1982.

Power of Volunteer Action

The 3-legged stool is a very stable place to sit.

In healthy neighborhoods, the legs of that stool are Residents, Police and Codes.

Everyone in the neighborhood benefits from the steady platform that occurs when the 3 work together.  None of the legs can function effectively alone or with just one other leg.   All parts are necessary to the well-being of the whole.

Good fortune follows those who are willing to help themselves.”

“The squeaky wheel gets the grease . . . the closed mouth doesn’t get fed.”

Thank you for stepping forward to help us
“Practice Prevention through Presence and Perception.”
